SOCIAL MEDIA
CAMPAIGN FOR DOVER RUG & HOME
From March 2016 until January 2018, I managed the social media for Dover Rug & Home, a high-end rug boutique with three locations in the Greater Boston area. The client had gone without social media for a while, but opening their third store in Burlington inspired them to reopen all channels: Facebook, Twitter, a WordPress blog, and a monthly e-newsletter. During this period, I managed the calendar and content for all of these channels, using an integrated approach.

The samples I include here demonstrate that approach. The opening of the store coincided with the opening of 3rd Avenue in Burlington (a design-centered shopping destination), the launch of the client's Carnival Collection by designer Eric Haydel, and a special ongoing "3rd on 3rd" Sale to celebrate the store's grand opening. Each platform presented all of these activities together as an integrated story, each providing the information best suited to its format.

In addition, the client was very involved in the community, sponsoring a variety of charities and progressive organizations, as well as hosting educational events and attending important design conventions. My focus was to use social media to present these activities rather than promote their inventory, which was kept to a minimum based on new arrivals or special sales.
BLOG

Using WordPress, I researched, wrote and published two blog posts a month. To ensure SEO, I provided all metadata and key words, as well as followed best practices for copy length and readability. I also resized, cropped, and color-corrected the photos.
e-Newsletter

I continue to write Dover Rug's monthly newsletter. Each issue is stored on the corporate website. I regularly used Facebook and Twitter to post reminders to sign up for the newsletter, as doing so opted consumers in to receive special promotional emails and event invitations. The client provided the ideas for the stories in each issue, and I would develop them and research links to find more information.

I scheduled posts on Facebook at least three times a week to promote the promotions, events and activities also covered in the blog and the newsletter. The number of likes and followers increased significantly for such a small family business.

Using Hootsuite, I scheduled 3 Tweets a day about the client's current activities, as well as reminders to read a new blog post or a newsletter. We also automated the WordPress blog to tweet about a different post three times daily, primarily about rugs, carpeting and home design.
